Beacon Hill Music presents Beacon Rocks! Sunday, August 29 from 1-5pm. Why is it “Beacon Rocks!?” We mean: ”Beacon” as in “our neighborhood”, the folks who live, work or go to school around here. “Rocks!” Is used to mean “a lively state of being excellent” NOT as in only rock music allowed.
We are excited about our new outdoor community meeting place on Beacon Hill, “Lander Festival Street”, just north of Beacon Light Rail Station & east of Beacon Ave South (map). Among the seemingly endless possible uses, Beacon Hill Music wants neighborhood musicians to perform there for you, their neighbors.
What is the point? We want to create opportunities for local musicians and performers to provide free entertainment for their neighbors. We hope this will enrich and strengthen our community pride. Besides . . . It’s Fun!

Center City Cinema presents the movie UP, Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 7-9pm at Hing Hay Park in the International District (ID), 423 Maynard Ave S (Map), Seattle, WA 98104-2914. The movie will be shown in English with Spanish subtitles. Movie will be canceled in the case of rain.
Hing Hay Park is the “Park for Pleasurable Gatherings” and is a hub of the ID. Terrace-like stairs lead down from Maynard to a red brick square with an ornate Grand Pavilion designed and constructed in Taipei, Taiwan. Artwork on an adjacent building features a dragon in a depiction of Asian-American history in the Northwest. The park is a popular lunch spot, and meeting place for families and friends.
UP is the Disney Pixar film described by viewers as a hilarious comedy with breath-taking action, amazing sound, special effects, and a story with a heart–possibly the best Pixar film to date. A great film for kids and families. “UP” is rated PG for some peril and action.
