Emerald City Contra Dance with the Seattle Folklore Society present Contra dancing every Friday at the
Phinney Neighborhood Center, 6532 Phinney N, Seattle (map) in the “Community Hall” (brick building off lower parking lot).
Dance from 7:30pm to 10:00pm, beginner’s workshop at 7:00.
Regular admission is $8; $7 for SFS and PNA members and seniors; $5 for students; under 16 free.
First time contra dancers get a coupon for free admission to their next dance. Coupon redemption limited to first five coupons on any single night.

Wayward Music Series is a consortium of affiliated organizations and artists performing adventurous/experimental music ten times per month in the gorgeous Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center, including contemporary, classical, free improvisation & the outer fringes of jazz, electronic & computer music, phonography, sound art, microtonality, minimalism, sound poetry, and other weird noise.
Nonsequitur supports a wide range of adventurous music and sound art through recordings, performances, and exhibitions since 1989 and currently runs the concert series in the Chapel Performance Space at the historic Good Shepherd Center.
Family Adventure Packs are backpacks supplied with field guides, scavenger hunts, magnifying lenses and activity ideas for children in grades K-6. Visits to the Dunn Gardens are open to the public for guided tours only. Reservations must be made in advance. The tour schedule runs from April 1 through July and from September 1 through October. The gardens are closed in August. There is a limit of 12 people per tour. Admission is $10 per person, $7 for senior citizens and students, payable by check or cash at the door (Groups of 6 or more must pay for the tour in advance). Children under 12 and pets are not admitted. Parking is very limited and carpooling is recommended. We cannot accommodate any vehicles larger than a passenger van.
The gardens are located approximately 10 miles north of downtown Seattle. Driving directions are provided once a reservation has been confirmed.
Tours often book several weeks in advance, so give yourself plenty of time when scheduling. Please see our calendar for a list of scheduled tours and availability, then use this form to request your reservations. Once a reservation has been made, we will contact you with confirmation, driving directions, and further instructions.
Plants in the gardens range from diminutive trilliums, no more than an inch tall, to Douglas firs towering more than 150 feet in the air. Woodland gardens, perennial borders, and great sweeps of lawn are just a few of the elements that make up the garden. The collection includes rhododendrons, specimen flowering trees, and woodland plants such as erythroniums and trilliums, sited beneath a canopy of fir and deciduous trees that remain from the original garden designed by the Olmstead brothers in 1916.
Cascade Bicycle Club offers free Kids’ Bike Events. Kids and teens ages 4-15 can find something to do at many Cascade events.

Imagine a clothing swap, but this is for your home accessories! Come to the Sit + Sip SPRING HOME ACCESSORIES SWAP on Sunday, May 23, 2010 from 2 to 4 pm at the Phinney Neighborhood Center. Come with 3 or more items in good condition to swap for free. Attendees swap in 2 rounds, picking 2 items per round, so everyone has a chance to get the coolest stuff. By the end, what has not been taken can become yours or go to Children’s Hospital Thrift Stores.
Why isn’t the event free? We simply need to cover our costs for venue rental, food and beverage.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.
To promote safe riding in King county and the Puget Sound area, Cascade Bicycle Club sells affordable helmets at community events throughout the summer. We offer both traditional bike helmets and multisport styles in toddler through XL, for $10 each.
