The wakeup song has been a part of the space program since the days of the Apollo missions. The National Aeronautics and Space Program (NASA) has launched NASA’s Space Rock, a contest to help select the two wakeup songs to be played during the 133rd (and final) flight (STS-133) of the Space Shuttle Program! The two songs with the most votes will be played during the STS-133 mission. There are two ways to participate.
Vote on NASA’s Top 40 Previous WakeupSongs. Listen to and vote on your favorite song from a list of 40 previously played wakeup songs.
Write a Song and Submit Your Own Original Work. Submit your original song by January 10, 2011. Entries will be screened by our NASA panel. The top entries will then be posted on their website for a public vote starting on February 8, 2011.
I’ve narrowed my choices to these songs:

If you aren’t sure which volunteer position is right for you, come to the Team Support Member Orientation on Thursday, August 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the downtown Seattle REI store. The orientation will last about 1 ½ hours. Street parking is free after 6:00 p.m. See you there!

The Seafair Air Show presented by Boeing is a must see for all families, thrill seekers, Seattlites and guests. For many across the Pacific Northwest, summer and Seafair reach their pinnacle as the six pilots behind the yokes of the “Blue” Boeing F/A-18 Hornets make their thunderous and spectacular appearance! The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will amaze the Seafair audience with their knife-edge passes and dynamic maneuvers directly overhead of boaters on Lake Washington. Recently awarded “Air Show of the Year” by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Seafair Air Show presented by Boeing is an event not to miss. The F/A-18 can reach speeds just under Mach 2, almost twice the speed of sound or about 1,400 MPH.
Blue Angels show schedule
Friday, August 6, 1:40 p.m. – U.S. Navy Blue Angels Demonstration
Saturday, August 7, 1:30 p.m. U.S. Navy Blue Angels Demonstration
Sunday, August 8, 1:30 p.m. U.S. Navy Blue Angels Demonstration
Note: The Washington State Department of Transportation will close all lanes of Interstate 90 across Lake Washington several times from Thursday, August 5, thru Sunday, August 8, to accommodate air show practices and performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels for this year’s Seafair festivities.
Places to watch the Blue Angels:
Remember, FREE admission is available on Friday and Sunday to 2010 Seafair Albert Lee Cup Hydroplane Races and the Boeing Air Show.
The Museum of Flight is again Blue Angels’ headquarters during the team’s entire Seafair stay, so you can watch them land and take off and get some pretty good close-up pictures, too. The Museum of Flight is located South of downtown Seattle, at the south end of Boeing Field / King County Airport; Exit 158 off Interstate 5, 9404 East Marginal Way S, Seattle, WA 98108.
