Students at the 2010 Summer Academy for Advancing Deaf & Hard of Hearing in Computing, at the University of Washington, will show the results of their work in Animation at the Community Premiere on Friday, August 20, at 7 PM, , followed by a dessert social in the adjoining Paul G. Allen Center for Computer Science and Engineering. Doors open at 6:30 PM; limit 140 persons. This event will be held in room 125 of the Electrical Engineering Building (EEB), on the central UW campus near the fountain. The following two maps can show you the location of the EEB.

If you wish to park a car on campus, visitor parking is $12.00 per day (evening parking is $5).
This is an academic presentation of Summer Academy students’ achievement in animation, and is not intended for younger audiences.
Also to be shown on this evening will be video highlights of the Summer Academy, describing the students’ progress. Ten of the brightest deaf and hard of hearing students from all over the United States have been attending the 9-week Academy, where they participated in classes in computer programming and animation, as well as meeting deaf and hard of hearing role models already working in computing. This program is part of AccessComputing, a joint project of DO-IT and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, with funding from the National Science Foundation.

Dancing til Dusk features FREE dance lessons outdoors in Seattle’s downtown parks from some of the best instructors in the city — this is a great opportunity to learn from them!
No experience or partner is required for the lesson or dance.
Each lesson lasts from 6–7p.m. in the dance style for the evening.
Each lesson will start at the beginning with the basics and will build in complexity, so be on time to get the most out of it.
Dances are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in downtown Seattle parks.

Seattle Center & EMP present SummerSound, an all-ages concert at Center Square on Thursday, July 8 from 7:00 pm – 10:00pm. See the best of the Sound-Off bands reunite with performances by Idiot Pilot, People Eating People, SEACATS, and more! Admission is free. Sound Off! is the Northwest’s largest underage battle of the bands competition for musicians 21 and under. The competition supports the local underage music scene by giving young artists from all different backgrounds a once in a lifetime opportunity to come together and play their original music in a great all-ages atmosphere. A launching pad for musical careers, Sound Off! has enjoyed hosting many young up-and-coming bands over the years including Schoolyard Heroes, New Faces, The Lonely Forest, Dyme Def, The Lonely H, Sol, and Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head.

Make a date to join thousands of Zombies in the RED, WHITE, & DEAD ZOMBIE WALK on Saturday, July 03, 2010 at Fremont Outdoor Movies and walk and dance for a bloody good time and cause. The Fremont Outdoor Movies is counting on all of Seattle to come out and represent their city to return the Guinness World Record back to its rightful owner and crown Seattle the “Zombie Capital of the World” once and for all in the Dead Center of the Universe – Fremont. The Zombie walk world record is 4,026 and currently held by the Big Chill Music Festival in the England, which narrowly edged out Seattle’s 3,894 last August.
Event Producer, Ryan Reiter believes it will take 10,000 zombies to hold onto it for a while, but is confident Seattle can do it.

The Seattle Bicycle Club is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to the interests of recreational cyclists. Club interests are recreation, exercise, safety and camaraderie.
The Club maintains a library of bike route maps with itineraries on their website. The routes include locations around Seattle as well as throughout Washington state.
The Cue Sheet/Maps Library is provided as a resource for club members as well as members of the Greater Northwest Cycling Community. They request that non-club members identify the source when using the map and also ask that you notify them of errors that you find in routes or recommendations you have for their improvement for everyone’s safety and enjoyment by sending email to the map_librarian@seattlebiketours.org
There are several bicycle clubs in and around Seattle, with membership beginning as low as $15 per year and that offer rides and other benefits of interests to bicyclists.
Redmond Cycling Club is a group of individuals joined together for inspiration, camaraderie, and enjoyment through challenging cycling. Membership is $15 for individuals/families.
Cascade Bicycle Club is a non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington and serves more than 13,000 members in the Puget Sound bicycling community. The mission of CBC is to Create a Better Community through Bicycling. Memberships start as low as $35 for individuals.
Cyclists of Greater Seattle (C.O.G.S.) is a Seattle Area cycling club with great rides, fun people and social events. Single membership $16.
Evergreen Tandem Club is for riders of tandem bikes. Membership is $25 / tandem team
The Seattle Bicycle Club is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to the interests of recreational cyclists. Club interests are recreation, exercise, safety and camaraderie.
Each week, weather permitting, the club provides at least one ride for each level of cyclist: beginning, social, and intermediate. All rides are in Seattle and surrounding areas except for monthly outings, which are 1-3 day excursions to places like the Washington Coast, Olympic Pennisula, Vancouver Island, Yakima Wine Country or Mount Rainier National Park.
The Seattle Bicycle Club does not charge a membership fee, but expects members to pay their own expenses related to club activities. For normal rides this is just the cost of getting to the ride and for any treats in route. For Outing Weekends expenses will also include room for over night stays and any special event related expenses that the member elects to participate in related to the outing.
Vertical World (VW) starts Outdoor Club beginning Friday, June 18, 2010 through August. OutDoor Club is perfect for those looking to experience outdoor climbing for the first time, or climb with the help of a professional instructor. Cost of Outdoor club is $30/member or $35/non-member per outing. All participants must be competent with an ATC. Sign-up in advance for any and all Fridays that you can attend.
