Theatre Puget Sound is a trade and service organization founded in 1997 to promote the spiritual and economic necessity of theatre to the public, and to unify and strengthen the theatre community in the region through programs, resources and services.
When you become an invidividual member of TSP, you will be connected to a network of over 140 theaters and other organizations in the Puget Sound performing arts community. Membership is not limited to theater practictioners. Any individual with a passion for the performing arts is welcome to join whether you are an artist, volunteer, donor, or audience member.
Individual membership begins at just $28 ($18/student).
Benefits of membership include special discounts for TPS members on theatre tickets to member organizations. Discounts vary from one performance location to the next. Participating theaters include many theaters throughout the region, both large and small, such as 5th Avenue, ACT, The Bathhouse Theater, Bellevue Civic Theater, Burien Little theater, Renton Civic Theater, Seattle Theater Group, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, and the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, to name just a few.
Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) hosts the very popular Friday Previews, which are hour-long dance previews with Artistic Director Peter Boal and the PNB artistic staff, sponsored by U.S. Bank. The Friday Preview features PNB dancers in excerpts from upcoming ballets.

The Northwest Folklife Festival is the annual free Memorial Day weekend celebration of ethnic, folk, and traditional arts. Folklife is Seattle’s unofficial leap into summer, with four days of jam-packed excitement. Artists from the Pacific Northwest along with special guests from throughout the world create an ethnic extravaganza embracing music and dance, visual arts exhibits, demonstrations of traditional arts, hands-on children’s activities, dance and music workshops, crafts, food, imported goods, and more! The exuberant tradition of sharing and participation at Folklife encourages exploration and learning between participants and public alike.
2011 Folklife Festival Information
- Folklife runs Memorial Day weekend, Friday-Monday, May 27-30, 2011.
- Festival programming begins at 11am and concludes at 10pm from Friday until Sunday. The Festival runs from 11am until 9pm on Monday.
- The 40th Northwest Folklife Festival cultural focus is Northwest Stories, a collaboration with local artists who tell their stories using different forms, including eight short videos highlighting communities that are part of the annual Festival.
- Also this year, The Bulgarian Community will celebrate with an exhibit of photographs; an afternoon concert by renowned traditional Bulgarian performers; a participatory dance featuring local Balkan and Bulgarian dance bands; as well as workshops, panel discussions, lectures, and children’s activities.
- Parking, public transportation and local accommodation is available.

List of upcoming Friday Previews
The World Rhythm Festival with over 120 Performances and Drum & Dance Workshops is produced by the Seattle World Percussion Society. Admission is free. The event schedule run Friday 10am-10pm, Saturday 11:00am-10:30pm, and Sunday 11:00am-7:00pm.
All workshops and events are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis. Most workshops hold between 60 and 100 people. For more information, visit the location and FAQ pages.
