Hawaii Day at the Aquarium, September 12, 2010

Experience Hawaii Day at the Seattle Aquarium with a taste of the Hawaiian island of Oahu at the Seattle Aquarium, 1483 Alaskan Way on Sunday, September 12 from 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m.

You can visit the “Only in Hawai’i” exhibit anytime, but on Sunday, September 12th the Aquarium is planning some additional fun. 700 fresh flower leis will be given out, Hawai’i inspired food and drink specials in the Aquarium Cafe and Hawaiian performers will bring the music of the islands to the Aquarium’s Great Hall at 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. Put on your favorite island attire and get ready to hula with the fish! Aloha!

This event is free with aquarium admission and open to the public.

Free Folk Dance on Monday and Thursday at Seattle Center House

$10 dance and Thriller lesson, Friday Oct 30 in Seattle

Plan to attend the CENTURY BALLROOM ANNUAL HALLOWEEN DISCO BALL! Friday, October 30, starting at 9:00pm. 21+over only. The Thriller lesson, taught by Dance Belt and dance are just $10.

Century Ballroom offers one of the Largest Dance floors in Seattle (2000 square feet!) in addition to a full bar and popular restaurant. The Century Ballroom is located on Capitol Hill in Seattle at 915 E Pine, 2nd floor, Seattle WA 98122.

    The Tractor Tavern regularly hosts square dances featuring music by THE TALLBOYS. Hellacious square dancing starts at 8 PM! $6 charge, ages 21 and over only.

    Square dances are typcially offered on alternate Mondays. For the current schedule, check the Tractor Tavern calendar.

    The Tractor hosts live shows 5-7 nights a week featuring a wide range of local and national acts including Rock, Alternative Country, Rockabilly, Groove & Psychedelia, Celtic, Cajun & Zydeco, Folk, Blues, Jazz, and Bluegrass.

    The Tractor purveys a fine assortment of liquor, beer, wine, and TV dinners. It ain’t elegant, but it’s darn good. There is also a selection of non-alcoholic beverages including juices and sodas. An ATM is available on-site and the Tractor accepts Visa and MasterCard for food and beverages. All shows are 21+ ONLY and every person, no matter your age, must have a valid I.D.

    2-for-1 Ballroom dance class every Friday in Seattle

    Every Friday night Washinton Dance Club holds a dance workshop from 8-9 p.m, in downtown Seattle, 1017 Stewart Street (Corner of Stewart and Boren). Phone: (206) 628-8939. Bring a guest who has not been to WDC to the Friday beginners lesson and dance, receive half-price admission ($6) for each of you.

    This fun, easy class is a great introduction to popular social dances. Each week features a new dance, like the Swing, Rumba, Foxtrot, Salsa, Cha Cha, Waltz, Two Step, Samba, or Tango! Learn basic techniques for leading/following, timing and styling while you pick up new patterns. After the class, put it all together at a dance party from 9-11:30 p.m regularly $12–free for workshop participants!

    $12-15 Modern dance drop-in classes in Seattle

    Velocity Dance Center encourages dancers of all levels to reach their maximum potential. All class at Velocity have a strong technical base but are eclectic in their style of movement expression. Classes include instruction in modern, funk, ballet, hip hop, African, Indian, and more.

    Drop-ins are welcome at all classes unless otherwise noted on the schedule. No pre-registration required. 1 hour classesare $12 and 1.5-2 hour classes are $15, pay the teacher directly. Cash and checks only.
