Planning on a movie for Christmas week? Check out these steals and deals at Seattle area theaters.
- AMC Pacific Place is showing several family movies: Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (G), The Muppets (PG), The Adventures of Tintin (PG), and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (PG-13). First show of the day (11:25-11:30 a.m.) is just $6, a $3 discount off the regular price. Make it an afternoon of fun; check out the dining offers, like free offers, discounts, and happy hour prices at Pacific Place eateries.
- Northwest Film Forum offers a free movie pass for two when you join, renew or purchase a gift membership. Purchase a membership during December 2011 and you’ll receive a free “Admit-2″ movie pass and a coupon for free popcorn (at $25 value!).
- Grand Illusion is showing “It’s A Wonderful Life” through Christmas Day. Regular tickets are $8. Or buy a $30 membership, and get $3 off your ticket price for an entire year. The Grand Illusion Cinema is a non-profit volunteer run theater and Seattle’s oldest continuously running theater. Help support this cinematic treasure by becoming a member or volunteering your time.
- Central Cinema features E.T. the Extra Terrestrial December 26-31. Save $2 when you purchase advance tickets (at least 24 Hours before the show tix are just $6.00. Day-of-show general admission: $8.00 ).
- Always $3 and always worthwhile, Crest Cinema Centre in north Seattle is featuring Puss in Boots (PG) and the sci-fi thriller In Time (PG-13), plus several other indie and foreign films.

The Redmond Youth Partnership presents free summer movies for teens.
Redmond Teen Programs encompasses Redmond Youth Partnership Advisory Committee, Rose Hill & Redmond Junior High After Hours, and Old Fire House Teen Center programs. The Old Fire House Teen Center is a stand-alone teen center located in downtown Redmond with a mission to provide innovative and progressive recreational, educational and social services to all Redmond area youth.
This summer tradition is now in it’s 19th year ion Fremont created to offer audiences an exciting program of cult classics, pop favorites, and cool shorts to a nightly audience of 800+ people. It’s the largest movie theater with over 975 seats in the city of Seattle. Fremont Outdoor movies are shown Saturday nights at FREMONT STUDIOS, 3501 Phinney Ave North, Seattle 98103. Admission is $5 advance purchase (plus ticket fees) or at the door.
The 2011 season kicks off every Saturday starting June 25th through August 13th, offering a great list of movie screenings and special events for wide spectrum appeal. Pre-show fun offers movies lovers to participate in a variety of goofy activities from a movie themed photo booth, games and prizes and much more. It offers a playful way to interact with your target market in the sprit of the evening’s screening.
Experience FREE movies by moonlight at Movies at the Mural on the grounds of Seattle Center. Picnic on the gently sloping Mural Amphitheatre lawn, in front of a state-of-the-art giant screen, with the Space Needle standing sentry in the starry skies above you. - Saturday, July 30 – The Princess Bride (PG): In this enchantingly cracked fairy tale, the beautiful Princess Buttercup and the dashing Wesley must overcome staggering odds to find happiness. Giants, swordsmen, six-fingered counts, murderous princes, Sicilians, pirates, rodents of unusual size and even death cannot stop true love from triumphing.
- Saturday, August 13 – Inception (PG-13): In a world where technology exists to enter the human mind through dream invasion, Dom Cobb is the absolute best at extraction and stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious. Cobb’s rare ability has made him a coveted player in the world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime.
- Saturday, August 20 – Raiders of the Lost Ark (PG): Relive this Steven Spielberg adventure on the big screen on its 30th Anniversary. Archeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones is hired by the US government to find the Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis.
- Satuday, August 27 – The Incredibles (PG): In this animated adventure, Mr. Incredible (A.K.A. Bob Parr), and his wife Helen (A.K.A. Elastigirl), are the world’s greatest famous crime-fighting superheroes. But they have been forced to adopt civilian identities, retreat to the suburbs and live a “normal life” with their three children Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack. Itching to get back into action, Bob gets his chance when a mysterious communication summons him to a remote island for a top secret assignment. He soon discovers that it will take a super family effort to rescue the world from total destruction.
- Sunday, August 28 – O Brother, Where Art Thou? (PG-13): Loosely based on Homer’s ‘Odyssey’ the movie deals with the adventures of Everett Ulysses McGill and his companions Delmar and Pete in 1930s Mississippi. Sprung from a chain gang and trying to reach Everett’s home to recover the buried loot of a bank heist, they are confronted by a series of strange characters including sirens, a Cyclops, bank robber George ‘Babyface’ Nelson, a campaigning Governor, a lynch mob, and a blind prophet, who warns the trio that “the treasure you seek shall not be the treasure you find.”
Moonlight Cinema by Redhook Ale Brewery is presented in their outdoor grassy amphitheater, known as The Bowl at REDHOOK BREWERY, 14300 NE 145TH St, WOODINVILLE, WA 98072 (Google map). On Thursday evenings from mid-July through August, movie watchers gather under the stars to see favorite movies projected on a 55-foot inflatable screen, while enjoying some of the finest brew available in the Northwest. Redhook invites you to join in this unique and memorable annual tradition.
The Details
- $5 Admission. Please have your I.D. ready at the gate to receive your 21+ bracelet. Shows are All-Ages EXCEPT as noted. (Guests 18 & under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian)
- Gates open at 6pm and seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
- Movies start at dusk, and end at approximately 11:00PM
- Bring a blanket or your low-back chairs to save your spot.
- BBQ food is available in the Beer Garden and to-go food from the Forecaster’s Pub can be brought out to The Bowl. Picnics are also welcomed.
- Parking is available at Redhook until the lot fills, then in the ball fields and the Wine Village lot, just east of the brewery. After 7pm, guests can park next door at the Columbia Winery.
The Not Allowed List:
- No Outside alcohol – bags & coolers will be checked at the gate.
- No BBQ grills.
- No pets.

Summer Outdoor Movies in the Park presented by the City of Bellevue and sponsored by Intellius run every Tuesday from July 5-Aug 23, 2011. Admission to each show is free. However, each week will be dedicated to a special non-profit. Your donations will be graciously accepted.

Outdoor Movies at Marymoor Park is held Wednesday evenings from July 13 – August 31 MacNair Field in King County’s Marymoor Park (Google map) turns into a giant outdoor movie theater! Outdoor Movies at Marymoor Park take place in the center of the park on the grass of MacNair Field. Grab your family, friends, blankets, dogs and lawn chairs and join in for trivia contests, games, prizes and big screen movies under the stars! Doors open at 7pm.

Moviegoers of all ages can climb aboard to enjoy a great selection of films during SUMMER MOVIE EXPRESS. During this 9-week festival, participating Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will offer selected G or PG rated movies for only $1 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:00am.
