Free Friday General admission to 2011 Blue Angels and Albert Lee Cup Hydroplane Races

Every year, spectators line the beaches of Lake Washington, soak in the Northwest sun and catch Seafair, a specatular show on the water with the Albert Lee Cup featuring the world’s fastest boats, the Unlimited Hydroplanes. In addition, the Boeing Air Show marks the culmination of the six-week festival and features the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

  • FREE General Admission is available on Friday, August 5, 2011 to see the Albert Lee Cup qualifying Hydroplane Races and the Boeing Air Show.

2011 Seafair ticket prices

  • Friday, August 5 – FREE General Admission. Guided pit tours are also free on Friday and Saturday with your $10 paid pit pass from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 6 – General Admission tickets $10-30: Seniors $10, Adult $20 Advance/$30 Gate, Youth $10 Advance/Gate, Military with ID FREE and Military Family Member with ID $10, Group $15 (must include a group of 10+ and only available online, advance). Guided pit tours are also free on Friday and Saturday with your $10 paid pit pass from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, August 7 – SEAFAIR SUNDAY – CHAMPIONSHIP General Admission tickets $10-30. Seniors $10, Adult $25 Advance/$30 Gate, Youth $10 Advance/Gate, Military with ID FREE and Military Family Member with ID $10, Group $15 (must include a group of 10+ and only available online, advance), Group $20 (must include a group of 10+ and only available online/in advance)
  • PIT PASSES & TOURS, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – $10 Pit Pass. Guided pit tours are free (with $10 paid pit pass) and available on Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION. There is very limited parking at the race park site. Advance purchase parking passes are $30. Parking will sell out early. It is recommended that attendees park off site at one of the designated locations (Airport, Qwest Field, Downtown), and then take light rail into the Othello Station. Note: The Washington State Department of Transportation will close all lanes of Interstate 90 across Lake Washington several times from Thursday, August 4 -Sunday, August 7, to accommodate air show practices and performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels for this year’s Seafair festivities.

Where to watch the Blue Angels for free during Seattle Seafair Weekend

The Boeing Air Show at Seafair is a must see for all families, thrill seekers, Seattlites and guests. For many across the Pacific Northwest, summer and Seafair reach their pinnacle as the pilots behind the yokes of the “Blue” Boeing F/A-18 Hornets make their thunderous and spectacular appearance! The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will amaze the Seafair audience with their knife-edge passes and dynamic maneuvers directly overhead of boaters on Lake Washington. The F/A-18 can reach speeds just under Mach 2, almost twice the speed of sound or about 1,400 MPH.

Seafair Weekend provides long-time residents and visiting guests with an unforgettable experience that simply defines what summer in Seattle is all about. Come be a part of the action on Lake Washington.

Free admission to Hyperlite Wakeboard Experience show August 5, 2011

Every year, spectators line the beaches of Lake Washington, soak in the Northwest sun and catch Seafair, a specatular show on the water with the Albert Lee Cup featuring the world’s fastest boats, the Unlimited Hydroplanes.

For the 2nd year in a row you can catch some high flying maneuvers from the industry’s top pro wakeboarders at the Hyperlite Wakeboard Experience. Hyperlite was born in the early 90’s and quickly established its dominance in the wakeboard scene through top athletes and great products. 2011 will usher in a new era for Washington Wakeboarding with the first ever cable system, provided by Endless Ride Cable, being set up on Lake Washington. The cable system will allow for a consistent ride from riders, more advanced tricks and an overall better show in a free style format.

On Friday, August 6, General Admission is free. Bring your own lawn chair!

Free Seattle Torchlight Parade at Seafair July 30, 2011

As Seattle’s jewel for over 60 years, the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade continues to be the Northwest’s largest nighttime parade and a highly anticipated event for generations of spectators lining the parade route year after year. Precision drill teams, community floats, regional and international bands, equestrian units, giant helium balloons, comical clowns and swashbuckling pirates all come together for one magical night in downtown Seattle to celebrate true family and community entertainment. Young and old make their way to downtown Seattle early Saturday morning and stake a curbside seats on 4th Avenue along the two-and-a-half mile route hours before the 7:30 pm start.

The Seafair Torchlight Parade begins at 7:30 PM. The parade route runs south for 2.5 miles along Fourth Avenue in the heart of downtown Seattle from Broad Street to Washington Street, then over to 2nd Avenue, ending at King Street. (Google map)

  • The parade is free. However, there is an option to purchase tickets (priced from $18-37pp) in designated seating areas along the parade route, mostly around the main grandstand at Westlake Center.

The Seattle Seafair Torchlight Parade offers something for everyone. Many people attend the parade to cheer on family members and friends. Still others attend the Torchlight Parade because it represents a civic celebration rich in tradition, one that instills a feeling of excitement with every drum beat. For one magical night, the city comes together in the heart of downtown to celebrate a variety of entertainment that makes the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade a truly special evening.

Celebrate summer and Seattle Seafair at the free Pista sa Nayon Filipino American community festival

Each year close to 15,000 gather to celebrate summer and Seafair with Pista sa Nayon, the largest outdoor Filipino American event in the country.

Community support is the key to Pista’s success. Throughout each year, volunteers plan, meet and raise funds to ensure its success. Over 150 volunteers work on Pista, now the largest outdoor Filipino American event in the country. Catering to everyone from birth to community elders, it has become the essential family reunion on a wonderfully grand scale.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon with free live music and concert, Saturday June 25, 2011

Kick off Seafair this June 25th at the Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon & ½ Marathon benefiting the American Cancer Society! Join 28,000 of your closest running buddies along the course for this 26.2 mile block party, featuring live local bands and spirited cheer teams every mile. Both courses start in Tukwila and wind along Lake Washington, culminating in an exciting side-by-side downtown Seattle finish outside Qwest Field. The event is part of a national series of musically themed marathons.

Music every mile makes up the heart and “sole” of this event. Live Seattle bands will be performing a variety of music from alternative to classic rock, punk, funk and blues to jazz it up. The bands set the tempo for this 26.2 and 13.1 mile party, where runners and spectators alike will be “Dancin’ in the Streets” to these mini-concerts.
