The annual Seattle Cheese Festival is an opportunity for the general public and the foodservice industry to taste, celebrate and better understand artisanal cheese made locally and around the world. As cheese production grows, so does the festival! Come taste hundreds of cheeses from local and international producers along the cobblestone street of Pike Place Market. The Seattle Cheese Festival is the first of its kind on the West Coast with artisanal cheese at center stage. Park in the Public Market Garage, 1531 Western Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101 (Google map), just behind the Market, which offers some of the most affordable parking rates in all of downtown Seattle.

Stop by for a glass of wine and and pair it with artisanal flatbread pizza made with local ingredients and freshly baked in a wood burning oven. Flatbreads are available Wednesday through Sunday. Regular prices for wine-by-the-glass and flatbread pizza range from $6-$12. Every Wednesday evening from 5-7pm, enjoy half priced flatbreads and wines. When the weather is agreeable, try the trellised patio provides for a relaxing outdoor setting.

This Saturday across Washington State, brewers will open their breweries for the first WA Beer Open House presented by the Washington Beer Commission (WBC). On Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 12:00 noon-5:00 PM, more than 30 of Washington’s many fine and friendly craft brewers will do something special, whether it’s a guided tour, the opportunity to chat with brewers, barrel samples, tastes from aged and secret stashes, or special pricing on pints or bottles.

On Sunday, Sept. 25 from 10:00am to 12:00noon, Teahouse Kuan Yin is hosting Seattle Tea School’s tea tasting “Beyond Earl Grey: The World of Black Tea”. Attendees will taste and compare fine black teas from India, Sri Lanka, China & Taiwan, including Assam, Darjeeling, Ceylon, Keemun, and Yunnan. You will also learn how black tea is made and how to brew fine tea in small pots to bring out the best flavors in multiple steepings. Attendees will also receive a discount coupon for the purchase of loose tea and merchandise

Every Wednesday through Saturday, during normal business hours, Soul Wine has 3-4 wines open to taste in their tasting bar. One wine will be free to taste and the others will have a nominal charge (for a two ounce pour) ranging from $2-$5. This way you can taste a wine or two, or linger over all, any time of the day. In the Soul tasting bar you can taste wines you won’t see offered too many other places and learn something about them in a relaxed atmosphere. The tasting wines will be offered at discounted prices if you want to purchase a bottle (or two…or more!) to take home.
