Here’s a list of places to find a map for Seattle bicycling, a King County bike map or Washington state bike map, plus bicycle maps for other regional and local areas and plenty of useful bicycling information:
Join Cascade Bicycle Club on any of their free daily bicycle rides, offered every day of the year–more than 1,300 rides annually. Rides range from leisurely 10-mile jaunts to strenuous endurance events to multi-day rides and take place throughout the Puget Sound region. Members and non-members are welcome to attend rides.
Check the Cascade Free Daily Ride Calendar. Unless indicated, it is not necessary to RSVP to participate in a ride. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to hear the ride briefing. All riders must sign a waiver form. Riders should carry necessary equipment to fix a flat (tube, patchkit, pump). Experience Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair on the 90-minute Century 21 Walking Tour of the Seattle Center Campus. Tours are led by expert guides from the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) and the Seattle Architecture Foundation. Step back 50 years and experience the cultural, architectural and historical legacy of Century 21.
Tours will be offered April 26 – October 20 every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 10 a.m. and every 1st and 3rd Saturday at 11 a.m. (except Labor Day weekend). Advanced reservations are encouraged, as day-of tickets are subject to availability. Tickets are $5; you may purchase tickets online or in person on the day of the tour. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Century 21, the Musem of History & Industry (MOHAI) presents a series of three complementary exhibits that explore Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair and its impact on the Seattle of today. The exhibits are produced by MOHAI in partnership with Historylink, with support from the Seattle Center Foundation. The exhibits are located on the grounds of Seattle Center, west of the International Fountain, in the International Fountain Pavilion (formerly the Northwest Craft Center). Seattle Center map. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily from Saturday April 21, 2012 through Sunday October 21, 2012. The exhibits are free.
- Centuries of Progress: American World’s Fairs, 1853 -1982 is a national travelling exhibit from the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware, an organization that collects, preserves and interprets the history of American enterprise.
- The Future Remembered showcases a wide range of artifacts, photographs and media documents from the 1962 World’s Fair selected from MOHAI’s collection. The exhibit produced by MOHAI, is curated by Paula Becker and Alan Stein of HistoryLink with support from the Seattle Center Foundation.
- Looking Forward: The New Heroes is an art exploration of young visionaries applying innovative solutions to create a better society. Photographs by Davis Freeman.
Summer Outdoor Movies in the Park presented by the City of Bellevue and sponsored by Intellius run every Tuesday from July 5-Aug 23, 2011. Admission to each show is free. However, each week will be dedicated to a special non-profit. Your donations will be graciously accepted.

Over 500 people, from more than 75 countries, will be sworn in by the U.S. District Court Judge, as new citizens of the United States of America. 27th Naturalization Ceremony, Monday, July 4, 2011 beginning at 11:00am at Seattle Center, Fisher Pavilion, 305 Harrison Street, Seattle, WA 98109 (Google map). The public is encouraged to attend and admission is free.
- The Greenwood Concert Band will perform festive selections beginning at 11:00am.
- The United States Army Color Guard will present the colors.
- The formal program will begin at 12:00 noon and will last one hour, beginning with a performance by Native American performers Gene Tagaban & Swil Kanim.
- The Total Experience Gospel Choir, directed by Patrinell Wright, will also perform during the ceremony.
- All countries represented will be announced and the eldest applicant for citizenship will be introduced.
- The Children of the World will lead the new citizens in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance for their first time.
This is by far one of the most meaningful and moving Fourth of July events in the region and arouses great interest among friends and families of the new citizens as well as within the general community. While this is an especially important day for the many new citizens, coming from a variety of nations and cultures, it also serves to reaffirm the deeper meaning of being a citizen of the United States of America.
The 2011 Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival runs Saturday, July 2 through Sunday, July 4, 2011 from 10 am to 6 pm each day. Free! Donations Accepted! The annual Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival is an old-fashioned, down-home waterfront festival where everything is fun, almost everything is free and nothing much is fancy. It’s as authentically grassroots American as you can get. You can visit vessels, take a ride, watch demonstrations and listen to live music.
