The Lunar New Year is a time to welcome the prosperity of the coming year and the passing of the previous year. Gain insights into the customary courtship ritual of ball tossing and participate in flower cloth sewing sessions. The Celebration marks the end of the harvest season and the coming of the New Year when the community gathers and friends share stories. It showcases local Hmong dancers, musicians and artists in ways that illuminate and preserve the unique Southeast Asian highland culture. Presented by the Hmong Association of Washington.
Seattle Center Festál, a series of 22 world festivals presented at Seattle Center on weekends throughout 2010, highlights the distinct cultures and common threads of ethnic communities in our region through traditional and contemporary art, music, foods, youth activities, workshops and more. This collection of cultural events is produced with the generous support of Wells Fargo, Verizon Wireless, KUOW 94.9 Public Radio and Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Additional support is provided by Seattle Center Foundation and the City of Seattle.
Thrill The World is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” for world records and charity. Thrill the World events are held each year at Redmond Town Center and Seattle’s Occidental Park in Pioneer Square. Each event has the option to raise money for a local charity of their choice. All official Thrill the World events are included in the numbers for setting and breaking World Records.

- Redmond Town Center for Zombies of all ages. The party starts at 4 pm with activities and entertainment, and culminates in the worldwide simultaneous “Thriller” dance at 7:00 pm. Bellevue-based Green Halloween started in 2006 with the idea of making Halloween healthier and safer for children and the environment by promoting non-candy treats and in 2007 organizing National Costume Swap Day.
Green Halloween founder Corey Colwell-Lipson encourages you to go green this Halloween and to “Think outside the conventional candy box!”
There are plenty of swap parties in Washington, including events in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond and many other locations. You can also organize and register a public or private swap among friends and extended family.
The variety and beauty of itsy bitsy, very busy eight-legged spiders and their webs is awe-inspiring.
