Free daily bicycle rides with Cascade Bicycle Club throughout Washington state

Join Cascade Bicycle Club on any of their free daily bicycle rides, offered every day of the year–more than 1,300 rides annually. Rides range from leisurely 10-mile jaunts to strenuous endurance events to multi-day rides and take place throughout the Puget Sound region. Members and non-members are welcome to attend rides.

Check the Cascade Free Daily Ride Calendar. Unless indicated, it is not necessary to RSVP to participate in a ride. Be sure to arrive 15 minutes early to hear the ride briefing. All riders must sign a waiver form. Riders should carry necessary equipment to fix a flat (tube, patchkit, pump). $5 guided walking tour of Century 21, 1962 Seattle World Fair

Experience Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair on the 90-minute Century 21 Walking Tour of the Seattle Center Campus. Tours are led by expert guides from the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) and the Seattle Architecture Foundation. Step back 50 years and experience the cultural, architectural and historical legacy of Century 21.

Tours will be offered April 26 – October 20 every 2nd and 4th Thursday at 10 a.m. and every 1st and 3rd Saturday at 11 a.m. (except Labor Day weekend). Advanced reservations are encouraged, as day-of tickets are subject to availability. Tickets are $5; you may purchase tickets online or in person on the day of the tour. Free exhibits explore Century 21, Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Century 21, the Musem of History & Industry (MOHAI) presents a series of three complementary exhibits that explore Seattle’s 1962 World’s Fair and its impact on the Seattle of today. The exhibits are produced by MOHAI in partnership with Historylink, with support from the Seattle Center Foundation. The exhibits are located on the grounds of Seattle Center, west of the International Fountain, in the International Fountain Pavilion (formerly the Northwest Craft Center). Seattle Center map. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily from Saturday April 21, 2012 through Sunday October 21, 2012. The exhibits are free.

  • Centuries of Progress: American World’s Fairs, 1853 -1982 is a national travelling exhibit from the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware, an organization that collects, preserves and interprets the history of American enterprise.
  • The Future Remembered showcases a wide range of artifacts, photographs and media documents from the 1962 World’s Fair selected from MOHAI’s collection. The exhibit produced by MOHAI, is curated by Paula Becker and Alan Stein of HistoryLink with support from the Seattle Center Foundation.
  • Looking Forward: The New Heroes is an art exploration of young visionaries applying innovative solutions to create a better society. Photographs by Davis Freeman.

Free wine tasting (and nearly free sampling) at Soul wine in Seattle Wednesday through Saturday

Every Wednesday through Saturday, during normal business hours, Soul Wine has 3-4 wines open to taste in their tasting bar. One wine will be free to taste and the others will have a nominal charge (for a two ounce pour) ranging from $2-$5. This way you can taste a wine or two, or linger over all, any time of the day. In the Soul tasting bar you can taste wines you won’t see offered too many other places and learn something about them in a relaxed atmosphere. The tasting wines will be offered at discounted prices if you want to purchase a bottle (or two…or more!) to take home.

Serafina restaurant on Eastlake celebrates 20 years of Italian food with $5-$10 specials May 29, 2011

Over Memorial Day weekend, Serafina restaurant on Eastlake in Seattle is featuring a 20th anniversary celebration from 1pm-10pm on Sunday, May 29, 2011 with $5 and $10 Italian food and drink specials.

The celebration takes place in the dining room and bar at both Serafina and Cicchetti, as well in their gorgeous courtyard — rain or shine! There will be no regular service at either restaurant; instead they will offer favorites old and new, live music and what promises to be a really fun staff talent show.

Come and try a little or lot and be sure to bring an appetite! Kids are welcome! The library room at Cicchetti will become a romper room for the day.
