For September 2018, we inspected the Greater Seattle on the Cheap calendar and website for free events that might be especially worthy of your consideration. Since we publish hundreds of events every month, we like to highlight a few of the more unique events throughout the region.
The Evergreen State Fair in Monroe and Kittitas County Fair in Ellensburg close Memorial Day, if you need a scone or fair food fix before summer officially comes to an end. There are also free music festivals in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island and over the mountains in Richland, WA. Beside these and the Washington State Fair in Puyallup, which runs through September 23, here are 10 more events worthy of your consideration:
September 1 – 3, 2018. Bremerton Blackberry Festival is a FREE, family-friendly festival on the Bremerton waterfront and one of the best summer-ending extravaganzas on Puget Sound. Find berry merchandise, blackberry treats, blackberry wine, along with live entertainment, beer & wine garden, and kid’s activities. Drive or take a ferry. Free admission.
September 7 – 9, 2018. Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival is Mukilteo’s biggest party of the year held the weekend after Labor Day. Food, entertainment, marketplace, parade, fishing derby, kids activities, and Snohomish County’s biggest fireworks show. Free admission.
September 8-9, 2018. Flavors of India Festival in Bellevue at Crossroads Community Park featuring yoga, Vedic wisdom for modern age, entertainment, dancing, live music, shopping, henna, Vedic culture and arts, a FREE lunch, and kid activities. The whole family will enjoy exploring the unique educational displays, cultural exhibitions, cooking demonstrations, and “Cow Protection”. Replications of this festival take place all over the world, including in London, New York City, Los Angeles and Toronto. Parade Sunday at 2PM with colorful floats and traditional costumes. Free event.
September 14 – 16, 2018. Puget Sound Bird Fest in Edmonds. Annual fall celebration of Puget Sound birds includes speakers, guided walks, land and water-based field trips, exhibits, and educational activities for children and adults. Many free activities. Some guided walks and field trips require advance registration and a fee. Free admission.
September 14 – 16, 2018. St. Demetrios Greek Festival in Seattle:
September 15, 2018. Fishermen’s Fall Festival in Seattle:
September 22, 2018. Sustainable Ballard Festival:
September 29-30, 2018. Romanian Festival in Mountlake Terrace. Eat, dance and experience the hospitality that Romanians are famous for. Savor traditional Romanian dishes, enjoy lively music and dances, explore a marketplace with authentic Romanian crafts. Food, drinks and souvenirs will be available for purchase. Free admission.
September 29 – 30, 2018. Italian Festival at Seattle Center. Explore and experience the cultural roots and contemporary influences of Italy through live performances, visual arts, hands-on activities, foods, games, and a lively marketplace. The Italian Festival is a “Celebration of All Things Italian.” Food vendors, crafts, puppet theatre, Italian films, a grape-stomping contest and a bocce ball tournament honor and celebrate the “old country.” Free admission.
September 29 – 30, 2018. Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival (free admission):
