Visit the WSU sweetpotato trial fields to see side by side comparison of common commercial varieties, Washington farmer recommended varieties, new wireworm resistant lines, and unreleased breeding lines from the USDA sweetpotato program that are being assessed for western WA growing conditions. Different planting and growing techniques will be on display, such planting slips horizontally vs. vertically, the use of black plastic mulch vs. no mulch, and growing sweetpotatoes vertically on a trellis. Results of research trials will be discussed. More info: 2nd Annual Sweetpotato Field Day (brownpapertickets.com) and Mount Vernon NWREC | Washington State University (wsu.edu)
