Trebbe Johnson is an author and public speaker on the relationship between people and nature. She is the founder of the non-profit organization Radical Joy for Hard Times, dedicated to finding and making beauty in wounded places: clear cuts, pandemics, weapons testing grounds, and the human spirit. She shows how community engagement, vigil, and the creation of art with on-site materials can bring beauty and discovery towards new sources of meaning and community. Her latest book, Fierce Consciousness: Surviving the Sorrows of Earth and Self, explores 34 simple practices for not only tough challenges to our personal lives and our ailing planet, but also engaging with them in ways that give new meaning and beauty to daily experience. Seward Park Audubon in partnership with Veterans Rites will host Trebbe for the Seattle leg of her 21-city tour. Trebbe will read from ‘Fierce Consciousness’ and offer time for discussion. Free; advance registration required. More info: Fierce Consciousness | Trebbe Johnson | Seward Park Audubon Center
