Freeform Dance Dance (FFD) is an open dance for everyone and anyone who wants to move to music. No steps, skill, or choreography is required. FFD is family friendly, LGBTQ+ friendly, and all ages (children must be accompanied by an adult). The set list, the venue, and the people make the dance shine! The music is from all continents, rich, varied, playful, and joyful. There are yoga mats, yoga blocks, jump ropes, scarves, shakers, and hoola hoops. Each session begins slowly and builds to a fast-paced inspiration at the peak. Often, there is music from every era since the 1950s, popular and recognizable songs, from all over the world including Africa, Brazil, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Asia, and Ireland—drumbeats, native music, indigenous music, and the music of various cultures. If you feel shy, come try it. There is nothing required. If you’ve tried ecstatic dance before, you’ll recognize some similarities with this freeform style of dancing any way you wish.
