Broadcasting from Southeast Seattle, KVRU 105.7 FM is a low-power FM radio station located in the Mt. Baker/Genesee neighborhood. Signal coverage includes most of Southeast Seattle and some areas beyond. The station seeks to support support local creativity through storytelling and community-focused programming that works toward a more just society. KVRU radio is a training ground for community members to learn the art and craft of radio production, amplifying the diverse voices of the community. Each month, KVRU has a 2-hour session: the first hour for orientation with Q&A and the second for a skills workshop. Every volunteer, including programmers are required to take the orientation along with other trainings depending on level of involvement and access.
