Philharmonia Northwest invites us to their season opener concert “Reminiscence,” which is all about memory. This livestreamed concert, broadcast from Seattle Town Hall will include works from George Walker, Debussy, and Tchaikovsky. George Walker, the first African-American composer to win a Pulitzer Prize. His “Lyric for Strings” was dedicated to his grandmother after she died. Debussy, who looks back to antiquity with one of the first pieces composed for the modern harp, “Danse sacrée et danse profane”—which features harpist Sophie Baird-Daniel; and lastly, Tchaikovsky’s colorful “Souvenir de Florence,” which remembers the composer’s travels in Italy. Don’t miss a stirring, moving performance from this vital regional chamber orchestra. Single event ticket $15, 4-Concert Subscription $50 per household.
