Make Music Day (MMD) is a free worldwide celebration of music always held on June 21 during the summer solstice (longest day of the year). The event encourages and provide opportunities for anyone–amateur or professional–to participate in and enjoy FREE live music at public venues. In the Puget Sound region, MMD events are organized in several cities. Each community organizes its own events, and each celebration has a distinct expression. Seattle Make Music Day
Seattle Make Music: Make Music Seattle is going virtual this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Typically featuring free outdoor concerts, performances, music lessons jam sessions and other musical events on streets, sidewalks, parks and public spaces in Seattle and across the U.S., this year’s Make Music Day will take a virtual approach to encourage all people, of all musical abilities, to celebrate the joy of making music. Rainier Avenue Radio (www.RainierAvenueRadio.World will broadcast via live stream events held in Seattle communities and around the world. Over 85 U.S. cities and the entire states of Connecticut, Hawaii, Vermont and Wisconsin will take part in Make Music Day 2020, further demonstrating the power of music to unite and uplift people, spread joy and build community amid this challenging and unprecedented time.
