Northwest African American Museum (NAAM) in Seattle embraces the important histories, arts, and cultures of people of African descent. NAAM exhibits the history, art, and culture of people of African descent and the Black experience in America, including roots in slavery as well as recent immigrants from Somalia, Sudan, Ethiopia, and other countries.
The museum especially highlights Pacific Northwest connections and the Black experiences in America through exhibitions, programs, and events. The learning opportunities nd multicultural exploration are an essential part of our shared heritage and future.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day events at NAAM
In 2022, Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be a hybrid event:
In the morning, there will be an in-person, offsite popup featuring a vaccination clinic, a Knowledge is Power Book Giveaway, a Hygiene for Humanity supply drive, music of the movement, and more.
In the afternoon, NAAM will host a virtual afternoon program featuring poet Nikki Giovanni as keynote speaker.
In addition, there will be hygiene drive at Garfield HS in the parking lot from 9AM-1PM. Drop off your donations of toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, shaving items, sanitary items, hand sanitizer and other hygiene items.
