See “Mommy” a new exhibit by Melissa Monroe. Textile pieces, paintings, drawings from the past year made by a mother, for mothers, for anyone who has had a mother. Her Art explores the relationship between ‘Mommy’ as a full-time artist and a full-time mother. A show made in-between making taking the kids to school and making dinner. Looking into her studio from the kitchen doorway, her expression is as important as any others. Thoughts interrupted, guilty work, always a mother. Mommy Mommy Mommy. Melissa is a well-known artist and instructor in Portland. Her bright 2D and 3D pieces fill the gallery with color, wit, and expressive images in a new exhibit at Lynn Hanson Gallery. “Mommy” will be on view from December 1-17 2022 and January 6-28, 2023.
