The Short Snorter Project will be exhibiting The Bissell short snorter*, a rare collection of short snorters signed by famous individuals. The display consists of 140 WWII era banknotes taped together measuring approximately 64 foot long. At least 294 signatures of Allied WWII admirals, generals, field and air marshals; 17 presidents and prime ministers; and 37 ambassadors and ministers can be found on the Bissell snorter. Tom Sparks, Founder of the educational non-profit Short Snorter Project, will be manning the exhibit and will be available to answer questions about the artifacts and the short snorter tradition that was very popular during WWII. * A short snorter is a banknote signed by persons traveling together or meeting up at different events. The tradition was started by bush pilots in Alaska in the 1920’s and subsequently spread through the growth of military and commercial aviation. During World War II short snorters were signed by flight crews and conveyed good luck to soldiers crossing the Atlantic.
