A special online presentation “Xenophobia and the Kubota Family” presented by tour guides and other volunteers about the many facets of Kubota Garden in Seattle. The Kubota family endured many instances of racism in their journey to become full participants in the country and the community they chose to make their home. From laws prohibiting land ownership to World War II internment, they strove to make a place for themselves. Yet, in the midst of it all, they still created the beauty that is Kubota Garden.
