The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture is an institution dedicated to preserving natural and cultural collections and educating the public on their importance to understanding both the past and the present. Their collections include fossils, Northwest Native art, and international cultural pieces.
Because they are located on the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, they are key to many cultural and scientific studies in Washington and researchers and staff work closely with local communities to ensure research is done with proper care and respect.

On the first Thursday of each month, the Museum welcomes the public for FREE from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Timed tickets must be reserved in advance and they STRONGLY recommend getting your tickets early because demand is high and there’s almost always a crowd.

From 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., take advantage of the open door session in their collections space to see behind the scenes of the Museum and speak to staff about their work.
