The Annual Omak Stampede, always the 2nd weekend in August, is a weekend of western entertainment, from the Thursday morning ride-in, the Saturday parade, and the Sunday running of the World Famous Suicide Race, you will enjoy an action packed weekend to include a carnival, amusement rides, kids’ activities, Indian Encampment & Pow Wow, Western & Native Art Show, Rodeo Dances and Vendor Row, and Omak Stampede “Company Store”. In the Suicide Race, horses and riders race 225 feet down a sandy bluff to the Okanogan River, swim or wade across, and dash 500 yards to the finish line in the center of the Stampede arena. Rodeo acts and race events in the arena are ticketed, many other festival fun throughout the weekend is free. Omak is located about 235 miles northeast of Seattle. More info: Omak Stampede Inc.
