Fungi far outnumber and long predate humans on earth. The Pacific Northwest is home to some 10,000 species and about 100 varieties of those bloom with edible mushrooms. Many others are deadly; discerning one from another isn’t always easy. Edible mushrooms, it turns out, are the very tip of the proverbial fungi iceberg. Come grow your knowledge. Bring your own mushroom samples for identification. Snohomish County Mycological Society (SCMS) annual Wild Mushroom Show in Floral Hall at Forest Park in Everett features a display of wild mushrooms collected by SCMS members, mushroom kits, a free class on mushroom identification (at 1 p.m.), books, videos, and raffle. The event is free (donations accepted). More info: Wild Mushroom Show Oct 23rd, 2022 – SCMS (scmsfungi.org)
