About Clif Bar & Company
Husband and wife team Gary Erickson and Kit Crawford are co-owners of Clif Bar & Company, a leading maker of nutrition bars.
Gary’s love of the outdoors, cycling, and great food led him to create the Clif Bar. A baker by trade, a competitive athlete, and foodie at heart, he combined his skills with his passion for business and social responsibility.
CLIF Bars were first introduced in 1992, in Gary’s bakery, Kali’s Sweets & Savories. The name CLIF Bar pays tribute to Gary’s father, Clifford, who introduced him to wilderness adventures and encouraged him to follow his passions in life.
The Clif energy bar is made with a blend of organic rolled oats and wholesome ingredients. An ideal mix of carbohydrates, protein, and fat, a CLIF bar supplies sustained energy when active on the field, sports courts, and slopes, at the gym, in the water, while bicycling, or simply getting through the day without sacrificing good nutrition.
In 1999, Clif Bar & Company created LUNA Bars, the first nutrition bar aimed at women. LUNA is the Official Nutrition Bar of the U.S. Women’s National Team Players Association (USWNTPA).
Kit Crawford is a celebrated thought leader on the power of business as a catalyst for creating a healthier and more sustainable world. She has led the Clif company with a strong focus on driving the company’s values. Her contributions include establishing the Employee Stock Option Program; an award winning environmentally-friendly bakery in Twin Falls, Idaho; and supporting thousands of grassroots organizations through the company’s philanthropic activities.
