Discover how design shapes our world at the 16th Annual Seattle Design Festival, August 15-20 at Lake Union Park from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The weeklong celebration kick-offs with the Seattle Design Festival Block Party on August 15 and 16, a free two-day street fair featuring large-scale installations, performances, and hands-on activities. This immersive experience showcases how design shapes our everyday lives.

For six days, participants can immerse themselves in experiences responding to the theme of IN[FLUX]—how it transforms ideas, spaces, and communities.
- IN[FLUX] How can design respond to constant change and uncertainty?
- IN[HABIT] How do our routines, behaviors, and systems shape the way we live?
- IN[FORM] How do ideas take physical shape through design, materials, and space?
- IN[TENSION] How can design engage conflict, difference, and competing priorities?

The festival also features dozens of large-scale built installations and pop-up experiences throughout the week, including LocalLoop Seattle: A Participatory Sculpture for Collective Urban Imagination; Sing to Me: Sound-Responsive Architecture; and the (Un)Build Kaleidoscope.
The (Un)Build Kaleidoscope, for example, is a pop-up installation that encourages visitors of all ages to rotate a series of oversized kaleidoscopes and encounter ever-changing reflections of the surrounding city. This highly interactive, family-friendly installation will be open from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on August 15 and 16.
