Seattle Jazz Vespers the first Sunday of each month

Seattle Jazz Vespers is a secular concert of professional jazz music, for those who love jazz with an inspirational message. The concerts are hosted the first Sunday night of each month, October through June, in the historic sanctuary of Seattle First Baptist Church on First Hill.

Seattle Jazz Vespers is free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are needed. A “free-will” donation will be taken to help support the musicians.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.  and the music starts at 6 p.m. The artists will perform one set and then there will be a short non-sectarian inspirational message. The performers’ second set will conclude the two-hour vespers concert.

  A hot club-style ensemble blending the acoustic swing style of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli with traditional jazz.
• November 1, 2026: Kim Maguire Quintet
  A performance featuring classic standards and vocal-driven arrangements.
• December 6, 2026: Nicole Yvette
  A performance highlighting selections from her premier album, Say Yes.
• January 3, 2027: Jacqueline Tabor Quintet
  An evening with the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame vocalist, drawing deep from blues and swing roots.
• February 7, 2027: Duende Libre with Hans Teuber
  An award-winning trio blending global rhythms from Brazil, Cuba, and the Mediterranean with contemporary jazz traditions.
• March 7, 2027: Greta Matassa Quartet
  A performance by one of the Pacific Northwest’s most celebrated and critically acclaimed jazz vocalists.
• April 4, 2027: Dmitri Matheny Quintet
  Led by the flugelhorn master, offering lyrical, expressive jazz melodies and standard interpretations.
• May 2, 2027: Offbeats Vocal Jazz Ensemble
  A dynamic 15-member vocal collective directed by Kelley Johnson and backed by the John Hansen Trio.
• June 6, 2027: Season Finale (TBA)

Venue & Attendance Details

• Location: Seattle First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard Ave, Seattle, WA 98122.
• Cost: All concerts are free and open to the public (donations to support the artists are welcome).
• Format: Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Each event features two professional music sets split by a short, secular inspirational message during the interlude.
