The Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival, celebrating Hawaiian Culture, is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, September 13, at the Seattle Center. Admission is free.

This year’s theme, Mālama i ka ʻike o nā kūpuna, “If we do not remember our ancestors we will become lost people,” celebrates the wisdom of Hawaiian elders through music, dance and food. The single-day festival is presented by Seattle Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival.

Two stages of live Hawaiian music and hula will feature performers all day, including Ho‘okena with special guests Ocean Kaowili, a musician, singer, and actor, and kumu hula Nani Dudoit.

Guests can try their hands at lei-making with fresh flowers. There also will be a “Keiki Korner,” a kids’ activity area offering hands-on, family-friendly activities. The outdoor Makeke marketplace and Armory vendor hall will feature more than 60 vendors offering authentic Hawaiian food, arts and crafts, artisan gifts and island-inspired goods from local businesses and community organizations.

There are also free Saturday workshops on lei making, hala leaf weaving, feather work and ukulele. If you’re interested, you should register ASAP because many are already sold out. The workshops are in the Seattle Center Armory.

The event is part of Seattle Center Festál, a public program series of 25 free cultural festivals, each offering its own celebration of heritage and identity.

Location and Address

The Live Aloha Hawaiian Cultural Festival takes place at the Seattle Center, located at 305 Harrison St, Seattle, WA 98109. The event programming is spread across the indoor Armory Food & Event Hall, the outdoor Mural Amphitheatre, and Fisher Plaza.

Parking

For attendees driving to the festival, the closest parking options are the official Seattle Center 5th Ave. N. Garage ( 516 Harrison St) and the Seattle Center 1st Ave. N. Garage (220 1st Ave N), both of which offer 24-hour paid public parking right next to the armory.

Alternatively, you can avoid event traffic by parking in downtown Seattle and taking the Seattle Center Monorail from Westlake Center to the festival.
