About The Washington State Fair
The Washington State Fair (formerly the Puyallup Fair) is the largest fair in Washington State and has been the place for family, fun, and education for over a century. In the fast-paced world we live in, it is a wonderful pastime to re-visit the tradition of days gone by and to share stories for future generations.
The Fair includes FREE music and craft displays, a K-12 student STEM showcase, farm exhibits, KidZone, demonstrations, and livestock shows Other fun includes carnival amusement rides, plenty of food options, shopping, the rodeo, and headliner concerts.
Do you have a talent you want to show off? There are also a wide variety of competitive exhibits from baking, wine making, photography, art and more. There are competitions for fine art (all media), furniture making, carving (wood…or vegetables), calligraphy, jewelry, crochet, knitting, quilting, basketry, salsa, chili, SPAM, and jam…to name just a few. 2018 Washington State Fair information
Here are the regular prices and ways to save money with admission tickets, free admission days, ride ticket deals, and other strategies to minimize spending and maximize your fun.
Where: Washington State Fair Events Center (about 35 miles south of Seattle), 110 9th Ave SW, Puyallup, WA 98371.
When: August 31 – September 23, 2018. (Closed Tuesdays, Sept 4, 11, 18. Closed Wednesday Sept 5)
Gate Hours: Mon, Wed, Thu: 10:30 am – 9:30 pm. Fri: 10:30 am – 10:30 pm. Sat: 9:30 am – 10:30 pm. Sun: 9:30 am – 9:30 pm.
Regular admission: Adults (13-61) $14, Seniors (62+) and children (6-12) $11, Kids 5 and under are FREE.
Parking: Mon, Wed – Fri: $10, Sat or Sun: $15.
Discount admission: Buy tickets online before opening day and save up to $3 on regular ticket prices. Check the available Fair Deals, such as ride/admission bundles and value packs. Buy a concert ticket or rodeo ticket, which includes fair admission for the whole day. Or, plan to attend on any of these free admission days:
- Friday, Aug. 31, 10:30am – 12:30pm – with a suggested non-perishable food donation for the Puyallup Food Bank.
- Friday, Sept. 7, 10:30am – Noon – with a suggested school supply donation for Communities in Schools.
- Friday, Aug. 31 – Monday, Sept. 3 – BECU Free Kids Labor Day Weekend. All kids ages 18 & under will receive FREE gate admission.
Rodeo tickets (Sept 7-10): Depending on the date chosen, tickets range from $15-$40. Ticket required for children 2 years of age and older. Tickets include Washington State Fair gate admission. Discount rodeo tickets: See all five performances for the price of three, or purchase a family 4-pack, or save $5 with the O’Reilly rodeo coupon.
Ride Tickets: 50-cents per ticket. Each ride requires 7-12 tickets (Extreme Scream – 20 tickets). Discount ride tickets: there are several ways to save on ride tickets, including weekday or weekend passes, ride + admission bundle, fun cards (ticket multi-packs), a value pack (include food and parking discounts), or the Extreme Scream ride deal (climb 20 stories and then plummet downward at nearly 3G’s). All riders must be over 2 years of age, able to hold on to the ride, and meet the height requirements of each individual ride.
