With perhaps the most unique name of all regional art walks, Rat City Art Walk in White Center is an up-and-coming monthly display of local talent and expression.
The name originates from a military training facility called the Relocation and Training Center (RATC) that was located in White Center during World War II. The acronym inspired residents to start calling it the “Rat Center,” which, over time, morphed into “Rat City” and stuck and now inspires many residents to create rat-themed art and even name businesses and events in honor of the area’s history.

The Rat City Art Walk runs every third Friday from 5pm-8pm and is located in the White Center Business Core (around 16th Ave SW between SW Cambridge – SW 102th St). Over twenty businesses participate each month as well as a large and always changing amount of artists and performers. Walk the route and enjoy live music, engaging art installations, dance performances, and more. See their website for a detailed art walk guide that is updated each month.
The event runners are dedicated to providing an accessible space for artists to showcase their work and grow their community for absolutely no fees. Any artists interested in participating are encouraged to apply on their website.
