For November 2018, we inspected the Greater Seattle on the Cheap calendar and website for free events that might be especially worthy of your consideration. Since we publish hundreds of events every month, we like to highlight a few of the more unique events throughout the region. The holiday season kicks off Thanksgiving Weekend, so there’s a link at the end of the list to many more holiday events over the long weekend.
November 3, 2018. Free Short Run Comix & Arts Festival in Seattle. Features book artists from the Pacific Northwest and around the world who make indie commix and self-published, small press, and handmade books of all kinds, especially those that exist outside of mainstream media. Free Admission.
November 3 – 4, 2018 Free Artisan Tile Festival in south Seattle. Artisan Tile NW is a non-profit Handmade Tile makers group, dedicated to the creation, promotion and preservation of the art and craft of handmade tiles. They sponsor a yearly show to raise public awareness about the range and diversity of artisan tiles being produced in the Northwest. Free Admission.
November 3 – 4, 2018. Free Northwest Orchid Society Show & Sale in north Seattle. The show will feature a variety of flowers and displays from NWOS members and other societies in the region. Local and visiting orchid vendors will be present with plants and supplies for sale. Society members will also be providing repotting services and hourly educational talks on orchids and growing advice for hobbyists. Free Admission.
November 9 – 10, 2018. Ski Swap & Sale at Newport High School. Swap & Sale of New & Used Consigned Gear includes downhill and X-C skis, snowboards, boots, bindings, poles, jackets, pants, helmets, hats, goggles, gloves, socks, under layers, snowshoes, après shoes, and bags…about 10,000 new &used items. Free Admission.
November 10, 2018. Veterans Day Parade in Auburn. The city of Auburn is designated as the Regional Site for celebration of Veterans Day 2018 by the National Veterans Day Committee and the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The City of Auburn is also proud to be a Vietnam War Commemorative Partner. Auburn has hosted the Veterans Day Parade since 1965. It has grown into one of the largest Veteran’s Day parades in the country. Free event.
November 10 – 11, 2018. Annual Glitter Sale at Seattle Goodwill on Dearborn. Seattle Goodwill’s most anticipated event happens every November at the Dearborn Street store. Shop for designer, vintage, unique one-of-a-kind items, “glam attire” clothing and accessories. Free Admission.
November 10 – 11, 2018. Free Oddmall arts & crafts show in Monroe. Not your ordinary arts & crafts show, rather a showcase for products that are a bit different from what you’d find at other craft fairs. Anything weird, freaky, bizarre, off the cob, or just plain different. You find familiar things: jewelry, art originals, prints, t-shirts, stuffed animals, clothing, games, toys, and home decor. But you will find them in unfamiliar forms. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with the family. Free Admission.
November 17, 30 and December 1, 2018. Gingerbread Man Puppet Show at King County libraries. The gingerbread man longs for fun and escapes from Granny’s kitchen to have an adventure. Will he find a safe place for his heart? Gingerbread Man Puppet Show Presented by Penny’s Puppets. Family program, all ages welcome. First come, first seated. Space is limited. Free event. - Shoreline, Friday, November 30, 2018. 4:00PM-5:00PM. Fairwood library in Renton.
- Saturday, December 1, 2018. 10:30AM-11:30AM. Maple Valley library.
- Saturday, December 1, 2018. 2:00PM-3:00PM. Mercer Island library.
November 23 – 25, 2018. Native Holiday Gift Fair in West Seattle at the Duwamish Longhouse. This huge annual event offers fantastic and unique items by more than 25 artists and local vendors who will be on hand to sell their goods. Food will also be on sale. Shop for fine art, native crafts, cards, jewelry, and smoked salmon. Free admission.
November 24 – 25, 2018. GeekCraft Expo Holiday Market in Seattle. If you’re looking for gifts for the geeks on your holiday shopping list, there is simply no better place to shop. GeekCraft Expo is a curated craft market specializing in handmade, “geek”-themed crafts of all kinds; clothing, accessories, toys, home decoration, furniture, art…if it’s geeky and made by hand, it can be found at a GeekCraft Expo. There will also be free, fun, make-n-take crafting activities for kids & families. Cosplay is highly encouraged. Food trucks. Free parking. Free admission with advance registration, $2 at the door (if available per fire code).
