Local landscape and aerial photographer, retired climber, and avid skier John Scurlock has defined his work in capturing glaciers & mountains of western North America. In 2018, he completed an eleven-year project (in cooperation with Portland State University) to photograph every glacier in the lower forty-eight states. His ground-breaking book, “Snow & Spire: Flights to Winter in the North Cascade Range” was published in November 2011. An inspiration to climbers, skiers, and backcountry travelers of all sorts, John will share about the origins of his work and his recent path from color photography to working exclusively with black-and-white. John’s presentation will conclude with a period of Q&A. More info: Glacial Photography in Shades of Grey: The Work of John Scurlock | Events | Sno-Isle Libraries (bibliocommons.com)
